The Bubulization Of The Boo Boo
My people! My people! My people! Wonders they say will never end, and with this current economic dispensation, the wonders have really just begun.
When I first started noticing this trend, I said to myself, maybe the tailor made a mistake. Maybe, just maybe the ‘madams’ grew overnight and the nicely regal outfits were left out in the sun, and global warming just had to take its toll by shrinking the clothes. Then again, there is the third possibility being that the material shared wasn’t enough in the first instance, and being the jolly good ‘fashionistas’ that this period has created, cutting the outfit according to the material has led to the birthing of ‘jaw-dropping’ and ‘eye covering’ trends on the red carpet, at events and I’m guessing places of worship won’t be left out either.
Please join me, to take a closer look at these works of art inspired most likely by the one and only Bubustration.
Let’s start with what I like to call the ‘let my people go’ style. Now this one is a show stopper – like literarily. Let my people go ensures that no eye-sensitive body part is kept where it should be – nicely covered and under the clothes. But then, who is to blame, when we have noted from the very beginning that the clothes either shrunk or the material was never enough in the first instance. And of course, with ‘let my people go’, private and reserved body parts become very friendly, as they pop out or sneak out comically, not wanting to be left out of the whole fun.
Then there’s ‘the never-ending flow’. If you ask me, I’d say this style is a little bit confused. Stay with me, I will explain why. This style simply amazes me. You see, although the style like its predecessor fails to perform the very important task of covering, this style clearly shows that the problem isn’t really a matter of scarcity. The long flowing tail is a camera’s/photographer’s delight; which makes me wonder why some of that material was not used for other parts of the outfit that are urgently crying for salvation. Anyway, all is not lost here, as I can imagine the venue is perpetually kept clean as the tail readily sweeps the floor without even being asked. Such dedication 😉
The last one for today is what I like to call ‘queen of combos’. For me, this is a pretty creative style borne out of scarcity. But then, this cannot be right bearing in mind the caliber of people who wear them. Perhaps it’s just the tailor who has chosen to use pieces in the shop so there’s more than enough to use for the Christmas outfit of his/her little stunner. Yet again, it might just be a creative style that combines nets, the actual material, and just about anything else that makes the style pop. This style for me is a clear statement that although no matter how different people or things are, we can make them work, if we choose to, although the issue of uncovered cleavage remains here too.
That said there is no denying the fact that the economy is pinching which has led to many new styles. But when you look a little closer, you’d see that it isn’t totally an issue of scarcity, rather, it is one of personal taste, and this bothers me a little.
You see, no matter what the economy says or does, you don’t see men advertising sensitive body parts like women do, they keep their business away from the eyes of the world. Now, you may say it is a matter of personal taste, and I sure do agree. A little question though. Have you noticed how the more expensive a jewelry or item is the more layers of wrapping it gets? Have you noticed in the market how the nice red and luscious tomatoes are kept on the trader’s table/tray in such a way as to attract the attention of buyers while still ensuring they are protected from falling or even the harsh rays of the sunlight? You have right? It’s because the trader and jeweler know the worth of what they are selling. Dear woman, you are worth more than this. Your treasures are treasures and should be kept away safely. You are valuable and should be handled with care. You are not an item to be advertised neither are you a piece to be lifted up and auctioned to the highest bidder. You are priceless. You are loved.
As we strive to rise above the challenges all around, never forget who and whose you are. When you go out, step out like the queen you are. When you are getting styled up, ask yourself – is this look worthy of who I am?
Finally, remember, you are the temple of the Most High. God calls you precious. It is time to live up to this reality.
