Chef Yeide
Merry Christmas Everyone! It’s been a very long journey before we finally got here – from the phone calls to the Whatsapp chats, to the voice messages! Yeah, yeah, she was a great spot when we first spoke and instantly agreed to the post, from then on, the busy bug bit and we just couldn’t get hold of each other!
Today, we’ll be featuring for the first time Yetunde Anikulapo Kuti who is a descendant of the maestro Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is an interesting mix – a dancer, singer, mixologist and yes an amazing cook who owns Kuti’s Bistro which specializes in international and West African Cuisines.
From studying music at the MUSON centre (any surprise?) she became a backup singer with Seun Kuti and the Egypt 80 band. The desire to follow her passion for the culinary things of life then led her to the Yetkem Institute of Catering and Hotel Management to learn cake making before she proceeded to Paris where she learnt to make French and Senegalese dishes in a French restaurant. She has a degree in Culinary Arts, an Advanced Diploma in Food Preparation and Cookery, as well as a Higher International Diploma from the Westminster Kingsway College Centre England – Iwe lomo lati le!
Chef Yeide is a mother of a cutie, a dedicated wife, is totally bubbling with life and comes with that unique Anikulapo Kuti ‘craze’ you just love to love!
