Chef Dakkie
This week, we will be featuring the radiant and lively Chef Dakkie, the CEO of Da’Quisine Culinary Services, which offers food delivery services, event catering services, chef consultations for opening restaurants and in the near future will be branching out into menu developments.
Chef Dakkie’s journey into the culinary world started as a ‘jambite’ when she realized the affang and moi moi she had packed to school wouldn’t last very long.
According to her I started using Google to find recipes, grading the easy to hard ones based on my lack of skills and then I just made the recipe and viola! She started inviting friends over for a tasting, a tradition which lasted all through her years in university.
During her service year (NYSC) she had a clearer picture of her future as she cooked more and even dabbled into selling food something she found more interesting than the pile of clerical work she had to deal with at her place of primary assignment. Her supportive parents egged her on and by February 2017 she started her two-year culinary studies in Cape Town, South Africa and returned to set up her food company.
