Adventures and Confessions of A Sisi Eko
It’s been a while that I have been with you guys and I have to confess I have missed you all so much, at least the prospect of sharing my thoughts with you, please forgive me and bear with me, hope you didn’t miss me too much.
So last week Saturday was an interesting one for me. I had had a pretty busy week and a stressful period in between where I just had to take things easy, so on Thursday was basically my ‘Sabbath Day’ and then on Friday, yours truly made a conscious effort, I mean a really conscious effort to rest. So unlike my typical schedules and mantra, I had to say – ‘I cannot come and die and kill myself!
Having rested for the greater part of Friday – attending to only the things that had to be sorted, I woke on Saturday feeling on top of the world – I mean literarily on top of the world – high spirit, high energy levels, and the world just seemed like an absolutely perfect place to be 😉
Now, I had an appointment for that morning – ok, that was the only downside to the day – who on earth sets up an appointment for a Saturday morning? But to be sincere, they were actually doing me a favour as I was meant to have met with them during the week – in this Lagos traffic? Ha! Jesus is Lord, I quickly appealed to them to kindly reschedule me for the weekend and they graciously agreed *huge hugs*
So yours truly got up early – yes… early…! And prepared to go out, don’t forget I was in high spirits right? So I put together a simple but dashing combination – blue jeans, multi-coloured classic top and black high heels to match my Black Handbag. I applied minimum makeup – I am not a make-up person – brown powder, light lipstick or was it lip gloss…? a bit of eye pencil and a soft scent to crown it all!
Ladies, ladies, ladies, you understand the feeling now, when you have put everything together nicely and you are ‘stepping out in style’ 😉 indeed, the world was my oyster! Then right in the middle of Third Mainland Bridge, the traffic started! Lagos! Lagosians! Where are you going on a Saturday morning eh? Una no dey siddon for house?! Well, with the ongoing repairs on the bridge and our ever outgoing people of Lagos, the traffic was expected right? Only thing was that my appointment was for 10 am and I literarily needed a miracle to make it in time and I had already received a call to confirm my attendance. Phew!
Anyway, I eventually navigated out of the traffic with a lot of prayers to God and got there a bit late but in the nick of time – halleluiah! Then I stepped out, and the looks of admiration made me chuckle inside. I walked into the building and was met by a guy who almost stumbled while looking… I gave him the loveliest smile and asked for directions to where I was going. He directed me though he looked a bit embarrassed.
I walked in and met the person I was meant to see. I smiled and apologized for being a bit late and he waved it aside saying it was ok. I was humbled to realize the establishment actually opened that day just for my sake – thumbs up guys!!! Anyway, back to the gist, for some reason I just kept harassing this guy – not in a nasty way o – no – just nicely getting him to do my bidding and he nicely obliged – talk about customer service *winks* while I kept spraying everywhere and everything I was to touch with my spray sanitizers – I sought his consent first of course!
When everything was finished, I stood up gracefully cat walked out of the office and into the reception (see high heels have that effect on you… true I wasn’t looking for trouble though I must confess I was in my mischievous mood). Cut the long story short in my ‘awesomeness’ I didn’t see the judicious and evil step that lay in waiting for me… like the snare of the fowler who constantly seeks to deceive, trip us and sabotage our walk and relationship with God. I tripped and flew like a chicken being chased by its owner on Christmas Day. My oh my! Plus high heels, plus matching bag, plus the reception table everything was everywhere except me as I was caught just in time by the gentleman working there – the same way God is always ready and there to save, and actually saves us when we need Him.
Ah! All my awesomeness! He offered to massage my ankle, the typical me would have thanked him and said no, but yours truly could hardly walk having twisted my ankle. I was so thankful he massaged it because I felt a bit better after that. And like the pure breed Sisi Eko that I am, I gracefully collected my bag, wore my heels and cat walked out of the place even though the pain in my ankle was on another level!
Am all good now, but couldn’t resist the urge to share this with you all, hope it brought a smile to your faces.

I love the conversational style of writing. Makes me feel like I was there. Great piece!
