A Dish Of Words… A Dash Of Hope

It’s been a pretty hot couple of months. The sun has come out in all its glory dishing out spicy chunks of heat, while the earth has so lovingly received it, showing that it has real respect.
NEPA. Sorry, PHCN not wanting to feel left out, of all the fun, has chosen this moment to teach their new trainees the act of putting on and off the light, not to talk of showing us who is boss by putting off the light whenever they deem fit.
It gets better. The price of fuel keeps rising like the morning sun, which means we all can go to bed tonight and wake up in the morning to the dawn of a new price!
Naija we hail thee! Your sons and daughters have ‘jappaed’ in search of a new hope, filled with dismay by what we all fail to admit. A government that is not governing and a society that just keeps one sighing.
A young generation taking a one way ticket to foreign lands. A land stripped of young talents and a vibrant working population, leaving the old population with no one to care for, a large pool of unemployed youths and a very old set of politicians driving the same ideologies that have driven a former great country to the knees of despair!
Nigeria oh Nigeria! Fatherland or motherland, which way to go? Which way to go? As our people groan inspired by economic hardship, little babes wail at birth frightened and disappointed at the place of their birth… an origin that may require a bit more gin to overcome the horrors of their reality and the colour of their passport…!
Yet I digress…, like many often do when faced with this level of heat and chaos! In the popular words of Majek Fashek “Send down the rain!” The plants need water. “Send down the rain”. The weather needs cooling. “Send down the rain” the sun needs the pitty patter of rain drops to swing its hips, make love to the clouds and birth a cooler day.
I pray. You pray. We pray. Let the calming breeze of your mercy bring in a new cool season, a country reborn for glory, and a people pregnant with wealth in Jesus name, amen.
